Ayurveda/The Science of Life

Originating from the two Sanskrit words, ayur (life) and veda (science), Ayurveda is an ancient healing system originating in the Indian subcontinent that relies on herbs for maintaining good health.

Integrated Health Care

Until recently, traditional herbal medicines were looked upon as the last resort in patients seeking treatment. Ayurveda was associated with ageing vaidyas or Ayurvedic physicians selling remedies for everything - from hair loss to cancer, in unlabeled bottles and jars.

Research at the Heart

Research lies at the heart of everything we do. The legacy of researching nature forms the foundation of Himalaya's operations. We have studied over 10,000 herbs and discovered many new properties. In just eight years, we have filed over 90 patents.

Formulating a Herbal Drug

All herbal formulations at Himalaya find their roots in classical Ayurvedic texts. A team of botanists and Ayurveda experts at our R&D center review these scholarly texts and shortlist suitable herbs for further research. The availability and sustainability of these herbs are first ensured before research is initiated

New Research Areas

At Himalaya, researchers have been testing different herbal extracts to find the one that can stop the spread of cancer with no side effects. Our team is developing a drug that will either work as an adjuvant to already available cancer therapies, or be prescribed as a first line of treatment.
